Follower checker

Follower checker for Instagram

Compare your Instagram followers and following in one go: who doesn't follow you back, who you don't follow back, who you follow each other with, and, from your second upload, who unfollowed you. It reads the export Instagram already gives you, so it never needs your password.

What it checks

Every follower relationship, by name

Two headline counts can't tell you who is on which side. The checker compares the actual usernames.

  • Not following you back

Accounts you follow that aren't in your followers list. Search it, mark accounts as viewed, add notes and hide the brands and celebrities you follow on purpose.

  • Fans

People who follow you while you don't follow them back, for when you want to return the follow.

  • Mutuals and pending requests

Everyone you follow each other with, plus follow requests to private accounts that were never accepted.

  • Unfollowers, from your second upload

Upload a newer export and the checker compares the two followers lists: who left, who joined, and whether they unfollowed you, you unfollowed them or the account was deleted.

  • Only your own account

The checker works from your own export. It can't look up another person's followers, and it never touches your Instagram account.

How to use it

Three steps, about two minutes of your time

  1. Request your export from Instagram. In the app, go to Accounts Centre → Your information and permissions → Export your information. Tick only Followers and following, set the date range to All time and choose HTML or JSON; both work. The guide shows every screen.
  2. Upload the ZIP as it is. Your browser picks out the followers and following files and sends only those. Photos, messages and everything else stay on your device, and the uploaded file is deleted as soon as it has been read.
  3. Read your lists, then check again later. Upload a fresh export next week or next month and the checker shows exactly who unfollowed you in between.

How this differs from username-lookup checkers

Many follower checkers ask for a username and show what they can scrape from the public profile, or ask you to log in to Instagram through them. Scraping cannot see private accounts or a complete list, and logging in through a third-party app is what triggers Instagram's “suspicious activity” warnings and temporary blocks. Checking your own export avoids both: Instagram produced the file for you, it is complete, and nothing ever touches your account.

The one setting that makes results look wrong

Instagram's export defaults to a “Last year” date range, which leaves out everyone who followed you earlier. Those people then look like accounts that don't follow you back. FindUnfollower spots a truncated export and warns you before showing any numbers; request a new one with All time and the lists correct themselves. Why the date range matters.

FAQ

Follower checker questions

Is this follower checker for Instagram free?

Yes, to start. The free plan shows the full counts of every list and unlocks the first three accounts that don't follow you back on every check, with as many uploads as you like. Paid plans unlock every name, the comparison between exports that finds unfollowers, and extras such as CSV export.

Do I need to give it my Instagram password?

No. You download your data from Instagram yourself, signed in to Instagram as usual, and upload the file here. FindUnfollower never asks for your Instagram password, never logs in to your account and never follows or unfollows anyone for you.

Can I check someone else's followers?

No. The checker reads the export Instagram gives you for your own account, so it only shows your followers and the accounts you follow. Tools that promise to show anyone's followers from a username are scraping public profiles, which cannot see private accounts and is against Instagram's terms.

Does it work if my account is private?

Yes. Your own export contains your complete followers and following lists whether your account is public or private, so the check is just as complete.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. Request the export in the Instagram app, download the ZIP to your phone, and upload it from your Files app or Downloads folder in any mobile browser. It works the same way on a computer.

Can it find fake or inactive followers?

No, and be wary of tools that say they can from a follower list alone. The export lists usernames and follow dates; it contains no activity data that could prove an account is fake or inactive.
