Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 14, 2026

FindUnfollower (“FindUnfollower”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the website at findunfollower.com and the web application at app.findunfollower.com.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use FindUnfollower, how we use that information, how it is stored and protected, when it may be shared, and the choices available to you.

FindUnfollower is designed to analyse Instagram data exports that you choose to upload. We do not ask for your Instagram password, log in to Instagram on your behalf, or perform actions on your Instagram account.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you create a FindUnfollower account, we may collect:

  • your email address;
  • your first name or display name;
  • your authentication identifier;
  • your subscription plan;
  • account creation and last-login timestamps; and
  • authentication information necessary to keep you signed in.

If you create an account using an email address and password, your password is stored only in hashed form. We do not store passwords in readable form.

If you choose Sign in with Google, the information received from Google is described separately in the “Google Sign-In and Google User Data” section below.

Instagram export information

FindUnfollower lets you upload an Instagram data export that you have downloaded yourself.

Where supported, your browser extracts only the information required from the followers_and_following portion of the export before uploading it.

This may include:

  • accounts you follow;
  • accounts following you;
  • pending follow requests;
  • recently unfollowed accounts;
  • usernames contained in those lists;
  • timestamps supplied by Instagram;
  • the export generation date;
  • the date range covered by the export; and
  • annotations you create within FindUnfollower, such as Viewed/Not Viewed status, whitelist entries, notes, or tracked accounts.

Photos, private messages, posts and unrelated sections of your Instagram export are not intentionally processed by FindUnfollower.

If browser-side extraction is unavailable and a full ZIP archive must be uploaded, our servers extract only the information required to provide the service.

Successfully processed raw export files are deleted after parsing.

If an upload cannot be processed correctly, the file may be retained in restricted storage for up to 7 days for troubleshooting before being automatically deleted.

The usernames contained in your export are used solely to generate and maintain your FindUnfollower results. We do not sell those usernames, use them for advertising, contact the people represented by those usernames, or include them in analytics.

2. Google Sign-In and Google User Data

FindUnfollower offers Google Sign-In as an optional way to create an account and authenticate.

When you choose Sign in with Google, Google may provide FindUnfollower with information associated with your Google Account that you have authorized us to receive. Depending on the permissions presented on the Google consent screen, this may include:

  • your Google Account unique identifier;
  • your email address; and
  • basic Google profile information such as your name.

FindUnfollower only uses this Google user data to:

  • authenticate you;
  • create or identify your FindUnfollower account;
  • associate your Google login with your FindUnfollower account;
  • prevent duplicate or unauthorized accounts; and
  • provide account-related functionality.

FindUnfollower does not use Google Sign-In to access the contents of your Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Contacts, Google Photos, or other Google services.

We do not receive or store your Google password.

Storage of Google user data

Information received through Google Sign-In that is necessary for account authentication, such as your Google Account identifier, email address and name, may be stored for as long as your FindUnfollower account remains active.

Authentication tokens, where used, are protected using appropriate technical safeguards and are used only for authentication purposes.

Sharing of Google user data

We do not sell Google user data.

We do not transfer Google user data to advertising networks, data brokers or information resellers.

Google user data may only be processed by service providers where necessary to operate FindUnfollower, such as infrastructure or authentication providers, and only for purposes related to providing the service.

We do not use Google user data for:

  • advertising or retargeting;
  • building advertising profiles;
  • determining creditworthiness;
  • lending;
  • selling or reselling personal information;
  • building unrelated databases; or
  • training generalized artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.

Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including applicable Limited Use requirements.

Revoking Google access

You may revoke FindUnfollower's access to your Google Account through your Google Account security settings.

Revoking Google authorization prevents future authentication through that Google authorization but does not by itself necessarily delete information already stored in your FindUnfollower account.

To permanently delete your FindUnfollower account and associated personal information, use the account deletion functionality in FindUnfollower or contact us through our Contact page.

3. Usage and Analytics Information

We use first-party analytics to understand how FindUnfollower is used and where users encounter problems.

Analytics information may include:

  • an anonymous analytics identifier, if you accept analytics cookies;
  • a session identifier;
  • pages or product steps visited;
  • general device, browser and operating-system information;
  • referral information, such as the website or search engine you arrived from;
  • the country you are visiting from, worked out from your IP address when the event is received (we keep the two-letter country code, not the IP address);
  • UTM campaign parameters; and
  • events such as an export being accepted or rejected.

Analytics events do not intentionally contain Instagram usernames from your uploaded export or Google user data used for authentication.

Our servers may also record IP addresses for security, abuse prevention and rate limiting. Server logs containing IP addresses are normally rotated after approximately 30 days.

We do not use advertising or cross-site behavioural tracking cookies.

4. Support Information

When you contact FindUnfollower, we may process:

  • your name;
  • your email address;
  • the contents of your message; and
  • information you voluntarily provide when requesting support.

We use this information to respond to your request and provide customer support.

Please do not send passwords or unnecessary personal information when contacting us.

5. How We Use Personal Information

We process personal information where necessary to:

  • create and maintain your account;
  • authenticate you;
  • analyse Instagram exports you choose to provide;
  • generate non-follower and unfollower results;
  • compare multiple exports over time;
  • provide subscription and billing functionality;
  • respond to support requests;
  • maintain security and prevent abuse;
  • diagnose technical problems;
  • understand and improve product functionality; and
  • meet applicable legal and accounting obligations.

Where applicable under UK GDPR or GDPR, our legal bases may include performance of a contract, legitimate interests, consent and compliance with legal obligations.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

We keep cookies to a minimum. Cookies that make FindUnfollower work are always on. The one analytics cookie is optional and is only set if you accept it.

Strictly necessary

  • fu_refresh keeps you signed in. It is set by our API when you sign in, is HttpOnly and Secure, and expires after 30 days or when you sign out.
  • fu_signed_in tells findunfollower.com that you are signed in to the app, so the homepage can offer "Continue" instead of "Sign up". It holds no identifier and expires after 30 days or when you sign out.
  • fu_consent remembers your cookie choice for findunfollower.com and app.findunfollower.com. It expires after six months, when we ask again.
  • The app also keeps a few small values in your browser's storage to work the way you left it: a flag saying you were signed in, the Instagram account you last selected, the device you chose in the export guide and the tips you dismissed. They contain no tracking identifier.

Analytics (optional)

  • fu_aid is a random first-party identifier that lets us see how a visit continues from page to page and from the website into the app. It is set only after you choose "Accept", is never shared with third parties, and expires after 400 days. A copy is kept in local storage, and a session marker and campaign tags are kept in session storage.

If you choose "Reject", or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, nothing optional is stored on your device and anything stored earlier is removed. We may still count page visits without cookies: our server derives a short-lived visitor code from your IP address and browser, using a secret key that changes every day, so a website visit cannot be linked to your device or to any other day. When you are signed in, what you do in the app is linked to your account either way, as described in section 3, because that does not rely on cookies.

We keep a record of each cookie choice (accepted or rejected, when, and whether it was made in the banner or in cookie settings) so we can show that your choice was respected.

You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" in the website footer or under Settings → Account in the app.

Payments

Checkout takes place on Stripe's own pages. Stripe may set cookies there for payment processing and fraud prevention, under Stripe's cookie policy.

FindUnfollower does not use advertising cookies or third-party behavioural advertising trackers.

7. Payment Information

Payments and subscriptions are processed by Stripe.

FindUnfollower does not store your complete credit- or debit-card number.

Stripe may provide us with limited payment-related information such as:

  • subscription status;
  • payment status;
  • transaction identifiers; and
  • limited card information such as the last four digits.

Stripe processes payment information according to its own privacy policy.

8. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information.

Information may be processed by service providers that help us operate FindUnfollower, including providers of:

  • cloud hosting and database infrastructure;
  • authentication;
  • payment processing;
  • transactional email delivery;
  • monitoring and security; and
  • customer support infrastructure.

These providers may process information only as necessary to perform services on our behalf and are subject to appropriate contractual and security obligations.

We may also disclose information when required by law, legal process, or where reasonably necessary to protect FindUnfollower, our users, or others against fraud, abuse, security threats or unlawful activity.

The contents of your Instagram export are not sold or disclosed for advertising purposes.

9. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy.

Typical retention periods are:

  • Successfully processed raw Instagram exports: deleted after parsing.
  • Failed Instagram uploads: up to 7 days.
  • Parsed follower/following information and annotations: while your account remains active.
  • Google Sign-In account information: while your FindUnfollower account remains active.
  • Account information: until you delete your account or request deletion.
  • Server security logs: normally up to 30 days.
  • Analytics information: up to 24 months, after which it is deleted or aggregated.
  • Support correspondence: normally up to 24 months after the last interaction.
  • Invoices and accounting records: retained as required by applicable tax or accounting laws.

Information removed from active systems may remain temporarily in encrypted or protected backups until those backups are automatically rotated or deleted.

10. Account and Data Deletion

You may delete your FindUnfollower account using the account settings provided within the application.

Deleting your account permanently removes personal information associated with your account from active production systems, including stored Instagram analysis results and account annotations.

Certain information may remain temporarily in protected backups until those backups expire.

Information that we are legally required to retain, such as certain payment or tax records, may be kept for the period required by law.

You may also request deletion or ask privacy-related questions through:

https://findunfollower.com/contact

11. Security

We use reasonable administrative, organizational and technical safeguards designed to protect personal information.

These safeguards include measures such as:

  • HTTPS/TLS encryption for data transmitted between your device and FindUnfollower;
  • hashed passwords;
  • restricted access to production systems;
  • access controls;
  • restricted storage for failed uploads;
  • automatic deletion of temporary uploads;
  • logging and monitoring for security purposes; and
  • limiting access to personal information to people and systems that require it to operate the service.

No online service can guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a security incident affecting your personal information, we will respond in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

12. International Data Transfers

Some service providers used to operate FindUnfollower may process information outside the country in which you live.

Where required by law, we use appropriate safeguards for international data transfers, such as adequacy decisions or approved contractual protections.

13. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:

  • request access to your personal information;
  • correct inaccurate information;
  • request deletion;
  • obtain a copy of certain information;
  • restrict certain processing;
  • object to certain processing;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and
  • complain to the relevant data-protection authority.

Many account-related actions can be performed directly through your FindUnfollower account.

14. Children

FindUnfollower is not intended for children under 16.

If we become aware that personal information belonging to a child has been collected in circumstances where this is not permitted, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

15. Third-Party Services

FindUnfollower may interact with services operated by other companies, including Google, Stripe, Instagram and Meta.

Those services have their own privacy practices and policies.

FindUnfollower is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc.

16. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our services, technology, legal obligations or data practices change.

When we update the policy, we will change the “Last updated” date above.

If a change materially affects how we use personal information, including Google user data, we may provide additional notice within the application or by email where appropriate.
